dc.description.abstract The path of accreditation of Scott Theological College by the Commission for Higher Education has been a long one, spanning over 10 years, that is from 1986 to 1997. In conformity with the mandate given to the Commission by the Universities Act of 1985, the Commission embarked on its work on Scott by carrying out a preliminary inspection/visitation in August 1986. The purpose of the preliminary inspection/visitation was to familiarize itself with what Scott was doing. The preliminary inspection/visitation was followed by a detailed inspection/visitation in June 1987, during which the Commission looked into various aspects covering physical facilities including land ownership, library, human and financial resources, legal framework and curriculum. As a result of the inspections carried out by the Technical Committee in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1995 and 1996 and by the Inspection Committee in 1991, 1993 and 1996, Scott responded by carrying out improvements in the provision of academic resources and facilities. It is on the strength of these improvements that the Commission is pleased to recommend Scott for the award of a charter to enable it to operate as a fully recognized and an accredited degree awarding theological college in Kenya. en_US
