dc.description The degree programme was approved by the Commission for University Education on 14th October 2014 en_US
dc.description.abstract The rationale of Bachelor of Education (Special Needs Education) Programme is to train students to become competent special needs teachers in the aspects of Social Studies, Agriculture, Mathematics and Science as well as Language education in primary schools and other special needs education institutions. According to the Kenya Education Sector Support Programme 2005-2010 one of the constraints facing access, equity and quality in the provision of education and training to children is "inadequate capacity, competence and I skills among many teachers to handle children with Special Needs". The Bachelor of Education (Special Needs Education) is a fitting response to these needs. The main goal of the programme is to produce graduates with knowledge, skills and competence to teach and manage Special Needs Education Programmes in an inclusive classroom environment. en_US
