Abstract:
Kibabii University College (KIBUCO) is the successor of the proposed Kibabii Diploma Teachers Training College. The University College, a Constituent College of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, was established through Legal Notice No. 115 of August 2011 after the local community petitioned government to convert the facilities of the proposed Kibabii Teacher College to a University. The establishment of the University College was preceded by an evaluation by the Commission in November 2010 that confirmed the adequacy and appropriateness of the resources at the College.
The University College started its operations in 2012 after a Council was appointed and senior managers were appointed.
To guide the future development of the institution, Kibabii has developed a five year Strategic Plan 2016/2020. This will guide the medium term development of the institution. For long term development, Kibabii University College is in the process of finalizing a comprehensive Master Plan for the period 2015/2050. This will set out the road map to the full realization of Kibabii University. Kibabii University College has demonstrated potential to operate as a fully fledged university.
