dc.description.abstract |
Karatina University College is the successor of Moi University Central Kenya Campus. Prior to becoming a campus of Moi University, the institution was a Tea Training institute. The first campus coordinator was appointed by Moi University in 2007. As the campus grew a Director was appointed to manage and steer the growth. The College is situated 165 Kilometers North-East of Nairobi and 16 Kilometers from Karatina Town, in Nyeri County.
Following successful application and inspection by the Commission for Higher Education in March 2009, the College was gazetted as a Constituent College of Moi University through Legal Order No. 163 of October 2010 and a Council was appointed.
After the inspection of March 2009 the Commission gave recommendations on various areas and followed up on the implementation of the same. The Commission was satisfied with the progress the institution had made and recommended that Karatina University College be awarded a Charter to become Karatina University. The University was requested to implement recommendations contained in the accreditation report. |
