dc.description.abstract |
Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology is a successor to Bondo University College which was established under legal Order No.56 of May 2009. This was in response to the need to improve access to higher education in the country. The University College admitted the first cohort of full time students (both Government and Self-sponsored) in September 2010.
Bondo University College is approximately 2km from Bondo Town in Siaya County along the Kisumu-Bondo - Usenge Highway.
The Commission inspected Bondo University College in March 2012 and evaluated its governance structure, Academic Programmes and Academic Resources with a view of advising government on its suitability for upgrading to a fully-fledged university. The Commission was satisfied the institution has met minimum requirements and recommended that the University College be awarded a Charter to become the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology.
In the meantime, the institution was to address the recommendations given in the report. A summary of the key recommendations are given at the end of the report. |
