Abstract:
Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DKUT) is located is located in Nyeri Municipality in Nyeri County seven Kilometers along the Nyeri Nyahururu road. It is the successor of Kimathi University College of Science and Technology (KUCT) that was made a Constitute College of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) on 23rd August 2007.
A team from the Commission's Secretariat accompanied by technical resource persons visited and inspected the facilities of the institution on Tuesday 14th September 2010, with a view of upgrading it to a fully-fledged University.
The Commission inquired into various aspects of the College including physical facilities, academic programs, human resources, finances and utility services. The inspection team noted that the institution had fully upgraded the facilities it had inherited from its predecessor, the Kimathi Institute of Technology.
After assessing the information provided by the institution and coupled with findings during the site inspection, the Commission was satisfied that Kimathi University College of Technology had the capacity to become a fully-fledged University. In the meantime, the institution was to address the recommendations given in the report. A summary of the key recommendations are given at the end of the report.

This accreditation report is in two (2) volumes:
a) Volume 1 contains the Charter, Historical background, philosophical and the accreditation process that let to award of Charter; and
b) Volume 2 contains the programmes offered by the University.
