Mainly  the joining  together   of Mathematics   and  Computer   Science knowledge has  developed  modem  technology.    It is therefore  important   that  the users and&#13;
beneficiaries  of  that  technology  have  a solid  knowledge  of  both  components, mathematics   and  computer   science.   This  knowledge  will  help  them  to better appreciate   the technology  at hand  and, more  importantly,  to use  it much  more efficiently.   Our students  of mathematics  and computer  science will certainly be important   users  of this technology.   Our programme   aims to equip  them with a strong   base,  which  should   enable  them  not  only  to  appreciate  and  use  the technology  more  efficiently but also to eventually improve  it.&#13;
&#13;
The programme   of study leads to the academic  degree of Bachelor  of Science in Mathematics  and Computer  Science (BSc).  The programme   offers  four options of concentration:   two in Mathematics   (Applied  Mathematics   and  Statistics) and	two   in   Computer    Science   (Software    Engineering  and    Computer&#13;
Networking).&#13;
The specific objectives of the programme  are to produce a graduate  who will:&#13;
&#13;
•     Work  comfortably  in a computerized  mathematical   environment &#13;
 &#13;
Be  adequately   prepared    for  post-graduate    study   in  either   Mathematics   or Computer  Science.   Option  courses  in the third and  the fourth  year are intended to help reach  this objective.
The Proposal was approved by the Commission for Higher Education on 19th March 2004

The rationale of Bachelor of Education  (Special Needs Education) Programme is  to  train   students  to  become  competent   special   needs   teachers   in   the aspects  of Social Studies,  Agriculture, Mathematics  and   Science as  well  as Language education  in  primary  schools   and   other   special   needs   education institutions.&#13;
&#13;
According  to the  Kenya  Education Sector  Support Programme 2005-2010   one&#13;
of  the   constraints    facing   access,    equity  and   quality  in   the   provision  of education  and  training  to children is  "inadequate  capacity,  competence and&#13;
I     skills among   many   teachers  to  handle  children with   Special   Needs".   The&#13;
Bachelor of Education  (Special  Needs Education) is a fitting response to these&#13;
needs.&#13;
The  main   goal  of the  programme is  to  produce graduates with  knowledge, skills   and    competence   to   teach   and    manage  Special    Needs   Education&#13;
Programmes in an inclusive classroom environment.
The degree programme was approved by the Commission for University Education on 14th October 2014

Daystar University
Daystar University College has been under the guidance of the Commission for Higher Education for the purposes of accreditation in Kenya since 1986.&#13;
Since that time, the Commission and its various Committees, have carried out a number of &#13;
Inspections/visitations on Daystar between 1986 and 1992.  The preliminary visit was carried out in July 1986. This was followed by a more detailed inspection and visitation in August, 1987, during which a number of recommendations were made to Daystar with regard to physical facilities, academic programmes, financial resources and draft charter.&#13;
The 1987 inspection was followed by the 1990 and 1992     inspections and visitations during which, not only did  the Inspection Committee interview the Principal and his chief officers, but also the Governing Council, academic staff and students on various issues. The inspections by the Inspection committee	were preceded by the inspections by the Technical Committee, which gave detailed reports on physical facilities, and which therefore became the basis of the inspection of physical facilities by the Inspection Committee.&#13;
The 1992 inspection/visitation was a much more• comprehensive one, covering as it did, all aspects of institutional accreditation, with a view to finding out the state of preparedness of Daystar for the award of charter.&#13;
The 1992 inspection coincided with Daystar's rapid development of the Athi River Campus, which had been acquired in 1990, and   to which they had moved first year students in September 1992.&#13;
&#13;
From the  interaction Daystar has  had with  the Commission, we believe that they have learnt a lot, and are thus now fully        conscious of the high academic standards the Commission has set  to establish in Kenya, as well as high standards expected of   them in  all  fields of their operations.&#13;
We believe that Daystar is now in a position to take off as a university institution, capable of formulating sound policies and regulating its own academic standards, with the sole purpose of promoting quality higher education in Kenya.&#13;
As part of the accreditation exercise, we have made a number of recommendations on which Daystar is expected to take actions within the next one to three years, as a condition for the award of Charter. With the resolve they have shown to develop as a university institution in Kenya, we have no doubt that they will take action on the recommendations	as required, and live up to the expectations the Commission has built on them.&#13;
The Commission therefore has no hesitation in recommending that Daystar be awarded a Charter.
The Accreditation Report is   presented in two volumes. Volume I deals with the Charter, Statutes and Report on the inspections and visitations by the Commission. Volume II deals with the Curriculum.

University of Eldoret
Chepkoilel University College was a constituent college of Moi University in Kenya. The College was established under Legal Order No.125 of 13th August 2010. The growth and development of Chepkoilel University College is guided by government and institutional policies and plans.&#13;
The University College is located in Eldoret, 330 km Northwest of Nairobi and 9km from Eldoret town along the Eldoret-Ziwa Road. The University College started as a Campus of Moi University in 1990, to deal with increased student numbers following a double intake that was occasioned by the change of Kenya's secondary education system from 7-6-3 to 8-4-4. &#13;
Having inspected the Chepkoilel University College, examined its instruments of governance, its academic programmes, physical, human, library and financial resources, the Commission recommended that the University College be upgraded to a fully-fledged university to become the University of Eldoret. The new University was expected to implement recommendations contained in this Accreditation Report in order to enhance the quality of teaching it offers to its students and play a greater role in the development of this country. A summary of the Commission's findings including an update of the current status is contained in this report.
This accreditation report is in two (2) volumes:&#13;
a) Volume 1 contains the Charter, Historical background, philosophical and the accreditation process that let to award of Charter; and&#13;
b) Volume 2 contains the programmes offered by the University.
